Privacy Policy

The new General Data Protection Regulation that came into effect in May 2018. In the past, the parish has carried out a census, gathering a register of information about current and former parishioners. We also have personal information provided by people seeking pastoral help or in the preparation for receiving the Sacraments. The information we hold includes name, address, contact numbers, family members, religious affiliation, marital status. This information helps the parish in its work in the community, to provide a better service to its parishioners and to realise its objectives. The information is held securely on a database that is password protected or in files stored under secure arrangements. This information is not shared with third parties.

As a constituent parish of the Archdiocese of Cardiff, we follow the Diocesan Privacy Policy. Below you will also find a summary of the ways we keep personal data safe, in accord with EU and UK law. We use the term “parish officers” to include clergy (the parish priest and parish deacon) any seminarian on placement in the parish, employees who by the nature of their work need to access personal data (e.g.parish secretary) and volunteers who run catechetical programmes (e.g. for adult converts, for teenage confirmation) or co-ordinate pastoral visiting (e.g to those who are sick or have been bereaved).
